Privacy Policy
BulkBack ("BulkBack", "we", "us") is an iPhone app published by SAMCOM LLC of Wildwood, Missouri. This policy explains what information the app uses, what stays on your phone, what is shared, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be plain and short.
1. Information that stays on your device
When you scan a receipt, the app reads the items, prices, dates and warehouse. Your receipts, purchase history, shopping list and settings are stored on your iPhone. We do not upload your receipts to our servers.
2. iCloud backup
BulkBack can back up your data to your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). This lets your data return after a reinstall or on a new iPhone. That data is stored in your iCloud under your Apple Account. We cannot read it. You can turn this off in the app or iPhone settings, and you can delete it in iPhone Settings under your Apple Account and iCloud.
3. Information you choose to share with other members (optional)
BulkBack works better when members share prices. If you agree, we receive:
- for purchases: the item name or number, the price you paid, the date, and the warehouse (city or ZIP code);
- for sale items you add: the item details, the sale price and dates, and the warehouse city or ZIP code. If you add one from a photo of a shelf tag, the photo is used to read those details.
We use this to show other members who also share a possible sale or markdown at a warehouse. Shared information is not tied to your name, email or an account. We ask for your permission the first time this applies, and you can turn sharing off at any time in Settings. Turning it off stops new sharing; information already shared and combined with other members' data may be kept.
4. Information we do not collect
- We do not create accounts or ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment card.
- We do not collect your precise location. Where the app asks for a warehouse, you choose or type a city or ZIP code.
- We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell your information.
5. Purchases and Apple
BulkBack Plus subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active but not your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy applies to the App Store, iCloud and your Apple Account.
6. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app can alert you about potential price adjustments. You can choose which types you receive and turn them off in the app or in iPhone Settings.
7. Service providers and technical data
We use Cloudflare to host our servers and database. When the app contacts our servers (for example to get sale information or to send shared prices), Cloudflare and our servers process standard technical data such as your IP address and request time for security and reliability. We use this data to run and protect the service, not to identify you.
8. How long we keep information
Shared prices and sale items are kept while they are useful for alerts and for improving accuracy, and then may be deleted or kept in combined form. Technical logs are kept for a short time.
9. Your choices
- Turn sharing off or on in Settings at any time.
- Turn iCloud backup and notifications off in the app or iPhone Settings.
- Delete the app to remove the local copy of your data, and delete the iCloud backup in iPhone Settings.
- Email privacy@bulkback.com to ask a question or request removal of information you shared. Because shared information isn't linked to an account, we may not be able to identify which entries are yours, but we will do what we reasonably can.
10. Children
BulkBack is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change what the app does with your information, we will update this page and the date above, and ask for your permission again where the law or Apple requires it.
